Modern Xiangyunsha · Plain Weave Liangchou

The most widely used base fabric of contemporary Xiangyunsha, also crafted from pure mulberry silk with a tight, smooth plain weave structure. It features a sleek, compact texture, soft muted luster, and elegant, fluid drape.

 

Natural Curing Craft Aligned With Nature’s Rhythms

What makes Xiangyunsha unparalleled is its production process reliant on natural weather and raw materials, encompassing over 30 steps that can only be carried out on sunny days. TUSSAIA’s Nansha sun-curing plant faithfully reproduces the full ancient procedure with zero chemical dyeing aids throughout:

1. Dipping in Dioscorea Root Liquid: Blank silk is repeatedly soaked in natural dioscorea root sap to absorb tannins.

2. Sun-Curing: Fabrics are spread across meadows under sunlight to fuse dioscorea compounds tightly with silk fibers.

3. Black Coating: Coated with iron-rich Shunde river mud, triggering a natural chemical reaction to form a deep black outer layer.

4. Rinsing & Mist Drying: Multiple rounds of washing, nourishment by morning mist, and air-drying create its signature dual-tone texture: jet black on one side, warm tawny brown on the reverse.

5. Maturing & Storage: Fabrics rest to age after finishing until their color and hand feel stabilise.
