Trained by French Masters, Journeying from Shanghai to Hong Kong
In the 1940s, many French fashion houses opened branches in Shanghai, China, hiring numerous local apprentices. Many of these Shanghainese, who were among the first to be exposed to and master European fashion techniques, later established their own businesses.
Mr. Zhang Shuifa was one of them.
At that time, he studied under a renowned French master in the French Concession of Shanghai. Later, due to years of warfare in Shanghai, Mr. Zhang, with his exquisite skills, moved south to Hong Kong and established "Zhang Shuifa Fashion Design & Piece Goods Company."
Opened in 1946 at the Hong Kong Hotel in Central, Hong Kong Island, it has been passed down to the third generation, Asa (Zhang Zhengnian), for eighty years now.
Asa possesses both design aesthetics and draping skills. He can control the overall style and charm while also recreating all his concepts through meticulous handmade details, showcasing profound expertise.
